Swimming Up A ‘Storm’ at LOSSA

On February 20th 2015, the Richardson Storm Swim Team competed in the LOSSA Swimming Championships at the Pickering Recreation Centre. The team, coached by Ms. Huelin, Ms. Herzog and Mr. Lezetc, raced with speed, strength and skill during the meet. Deanna Persaud, a senior who has been swimming with the team for four years, spoke about the team’s performance at LOSSA: “I think our team killed it today. Everyone swam as hard as they could. We showed amazing sportsmanship and that is the most important part of it all – working hard and having fun.”

Juniors Victoria Kitamura and Cameron Ford came out of the competition triumphant. Kitamura placed first in two of her events: the 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley race. She also placed second in the girls 50m breaststroke. Ford placed third in the boys 50m breaststroke. The senior girls relay team, consisting of Claudia Wilson, Kaitlin Secord, Victoria Kitamura and Taylor Pickering, placed fifth in their medley relay. Kitamura and Ford will be continuing their season by representing Richardson and competing at OFSAA on March 3, 2015.

Overall, the Richardson Swim Team raced and fought hard all season and their skill was shown at the 2015 LOSSA Championships. The team will continue to swim hard and fight harder in seasons to come.
