From Sept 18th– Oct 7th J Clarke Richardson Collegiate took part in the annual Thanksgiving food drive. In order to collect food, donation boxes were placed in every homeroom class courtesy of our student council. Students were asked to bring in non-perishable edible canned goods. Over the two weeks students successfully brought in donations that would go to Feed the Need Foundation Durham.

This year our school raised 1346 items which has been our greatest turnout ever. The classes that had collected the highest amount of items received first, second, and third prizes. Winning a pizza party in first place came Mrs.Lezetc’s class, in second and third came Mrs.Briard’s and Mrs.Dixon’s classes respectively, who received donuts and Timbits.

“The results this year were really nice,” says Sukina Jamil who is a member of the student council. “We are looking forward to next year and hoping for even better results.”
