Welcome to Baking Up a Storm, a new baking and cooking column where I will be sharing recipes every week for you to try at home. Some of the things you will find in this column include healthy, trending, and seasonal recipes, helpful baking and cooking tips, reviews on local restaurants and video tutorials.

To start off this week’s column I will be sharing with you a simple and delicious recipe.  Don’t you hate throwing out bananas that you just bought because they’ve become too mushy and brown? Well, I have the perfect solution for you.  Here is a simple Banana Bread recipe.

Did you know that bananas are the perfect snack?  They are easy to eat, have a natural protective wrap, and are extremely filling.

Ingredients:

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom of a 9×5 or 8×4-inch loaf pan or cake pan.

First in a large bowl, beat together the sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Add mashed bananas, milk, and vanilla; mix well. In a separate small bowl, combine flour, walnuts, baking soda, and salt; whisk together to get rid of lumps.

Add the flour mixture to the banana mixture and stir with a spatula or wooden spoon until there is no flour remaining. Pour the mixture into the greased pan(s).

Bake at 350°F for 50-60 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the middle comes out clean and the top is golden brown.

Let the bread cool for 5 minutes and remove from the pan. Wrap tightly store in the refrigerator.

Enjoy!
