CLUB SPOTLIGHT: Technology in Gaming

J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate has a rich variety of extra-curricular activities ranging from Junior Concert Band to Chess Club. Technology in Gaming is one such club. The club meets on Mondays after school from 2:40 – 4:00 p.m. and hosted by Mr. Anwar in room 3317. The club studies various forms of technology through gaming.

Pranav Bedi is president of the new club. Bedi created the club when he was in grade 9. During the second semester of his ninth grade, he and business teacher Mr. Anwar came up with an idea to start a club that can look at technology from a different angle. Being interested in video games, they figured it would be a good idea to create a club that explored technology through video games – something not explored in other clubs. After the club was officially recognized, Bedi invited his close friends to be the first members and from there they have been slowly growing as a club.

When asked what the club is currently working on, Bedi says, “Currently we are working on building a fully functional arcade machine that will run multiple different games and placing it somewhere in the school.”

The machine is planned to run old school arcade games such as PAC-man, Street Fighter and many more. According to Bedi, the project is still in its planning phase but is expected to finish sometime in the second semester.
