5 MANHWA RECOMMENDATIONS

In recent years, manhwa has grown quite popular among manga lovers. Manhwa South Korean comics are light novels that have gained popularity internationally. The majority of manga is black and white, however many great manhwa are in full colour and are popular with readers.

  • Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

“Dokja was an average office worker whose sole interest was reading his favorite web novel ‘Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse.’ But when the novel suddenly becomes reality, he is the only person who knows how the world will end. Armed with this realization, Dokja uses his understanding to change the course of the story, and the world, as he knows it.”

The core concept of this manhwa’s plot is very intriguing. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is in many ways about how stories are created and told, and it’s not difficult for the reader to identify with the main character and his role in the story.

  • Second Life of a Trash Princess

“After her father—the emperor—was assassinated, Regina became the regent in place of her little brother who was still young. No matter how well she dealt with domestic affairs, the empire’s vaults emptied out due to how much of a sucker her little bother—the Trash Prince—was. On top of that, there was news that her fiancé was cheating on her… In the end, she lost everything due to her fiancé leading an insurrection. However, in her final moments, Regina turned back time with the first emperor’s memento and vowed to become an even bigger trash than her little brother to prevent the errors of her past.”

The core concept of this may be similar to others. However, I really recommend this one, as the story is unique and you don’t see many great female main character manhwas. Another reason why this manhwa is a great read is because of its beautiful art style.

  • The Novel’s Extra

This is perfect for those like going pew pew with a gun.

“It follows a writer by the name of Kim Hajin. However, I ended up as a character I’d never even written about. Other than getting accepted into the Agent Military Academy, this character isn’t particularly extraordinary, has no interactions with anyone in the novel, and isn’t even mentioned at all.”

The reason I adore this series so greatly is that the plot is beautifully written. The plot is well connected throughout the main plot development so that by the end, everything makes sense. Finally, another element of this series that I adore is the side characters. The author did a superb job in terms of the character development of each character.

  • Solo Leveling

“10 years ago, after “the Gate” that connected the real world with the monster world opened, some of the ordinary, everyday people received the power to hunt monsters within the Gate. They are known as “Hunters”. However, not all Hunters are powerful.”

It’s an incremental progress story, with the protagonist steadily becoming more powerful until they’re OP to most people. Another good part of why this series is so great is because of its extremely detailed art and its deep world-building.

  • Return of the 8th Class Magician

The story follows Ian Page, an archmage and the first person to pass through the sixth, seventh, and the eighth class became the most potent mage.  Thanks to his efforts, the continent was finally united after a lifetime of bloodshed and war. Being old, all he wants is to live out the rest of his days in peace and seek redemption for all the blood he shed. But his old friend, driven by paranoia and unable to accept someone so strong, betrayed and killed Ian. In his final breaths, he uses time-travel magic to go back in time to when he was a young boy. He made the decision to act more wisely with the knowledge in order to have fewer regrets.

This one I find great because of how hot and luscious the main character’s hair is, but the plot is good as well.

These were the top five novels I recommended you read. These are excellent books to read, but there are undoubtedly millions more! I sincerely hope that this article of recommendations allows you to discover something new and venture into unfamiliar territory!
