Luke Stichhaller is a grade 11 student that is heavily involved in J Clarkes music program. Sr.Jazz, and Sr.Concert band are some of the after school programs he is apart of. He also plays and is heavily involved in Durham’s Jazz band as well. This week Eye on the Storm got a great opportunity to sit down with Luke and ask him a couple of questions!

Luke, what are your inspirations and motivations in you life?

I would say that im inspired by the music I listen to. Rap and Hiphop sort of like R and B because there is some Jazzy stuff in there. I like a song that has a groove as well. I would say that really motivates me!

If you had to guess, where would you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself in post secondary for computer engineering but sadly not for music. I definitly will try and keep up playing the Trumpet as a hobby though.20160330_145446

How did you get to this point in your life?

Well i first picked up the Trumpet in grade 6 since we had to pick instruments then. But in Grade 8 I joined the Durham Jazz Band which really got me into music so I started to practise a lot on my own. My elementry school teacher though didnt teach us much so I practised and practised to get to a level I wanted to see myself at.

Finally what would you say are your dreams and aspirations for the future?

I wish to keep to playing the Trumpet and maybe even start a combo. But for the long term i wish to become a software engineer. Music will always be apart of my life though especially listening to it, I just love it!
