4 Books to Consider Reading – 2022

Hasn’t 2022 just flown by? I’m texting my friends a Happy New Year and the next thing I know, I find Christmas decorations at Walmart. Well, since 2022 still isn’t quite over, here are some 2022 books to read. Whether you have read over 300 books, or are struggling with getting into reading. Here are some books to read and enjoy!

Book 1 – The Final Gambit

The first book on the list is The Final Gambit written by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This is the 3rd and final book of the Inheritance Games series. If you’re interested in reading mystery novels, with riddles upon riddles, then consider reading the Final Gambit.

Basically, it revolves around the infamous Avery Grambs, who inherited billions of dollars from Tobias Hawthorne. However, in order to receive the money, she has to live at the Hawthorne Mansion. Not only that, but she has to endure his not so happy family. Avery is just weeks away from becoming the richest teenager in the world, yet she’s nowhere close to figuring out the truth. Adding onto it, an unknown visitor arrives that could in fact change the Hawthorne’s forever, proving to be the final puzzle left in the game. Like the book says, “Riddles upon Riddles, Secrets upon Secrets, Winner Takes All.”

Book 2 – No Filter and Other Lies

The next book on the list is No Filter and Other Lies, written by Crystal Maldonado. This book focuses on social media and the impacts of lying through the platform. As it is 2022, people tend to compare themselves to something they saw on the media, even if it’s far from the truth. If you are interested in books about romance, social media and the real life impacts of it, then consider reading No Filter and Other Lies.

To summarize the book, it’s all about the followers, and that sense of accomplishment when you have tons of likes. Well that’s the case for 21 year old Max Monroe, an influencer with tons of followers on Instagram, beauty and the seemingly perfect life. However, it’s all a massive lie. Max Monroe is actually 16 year old Kat Sanchez whose life is far from “perfect.” However, after one viral post, her lie becomes all too true. She has to figure out how to get herself out of this mess so she doesn’t hurt the ones she loves.

Book 3 – The First to Die at the End

The next book on the list is The First to Die at the End, by Adam Silvera. Does the name sound familiar? This book is the prequel to “They Both Die at the End.” This story focuses on living life to the fullest with the people you value the most.

Basically, the book starts by introducing the Death Cast, a new way to predict when someone will pass away. However, everyone doesn’t know if it’s a scam or true. Well, Orion and Valentino both signed up for the program but have completely different lives. Orion just wants to know what’s coming, while Valentino is getting his life together for a bright future. After they first meet, the first cast goes around, but only one receives a call. Both of them want to make the most of what time they have together even though they have no certainty about how things will end.

Book 4 – Whiteout

The last book on the list is Whiteout, by Nicola Yoon, Angie Thomas, Ashley Woodfolk, Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany D. Jackson, Nic Stone. This team of writers also wrote the bestseller Blackout. Specifically, Angie Thomas wrote The Hate U Give, which expanded to a movie, and has received awards like, “Goodreads Choice Awards Best of the Best.” It is fairly recent, as it released on November 8, 2022.

The story takes place in Atlanta, when the city is full of snow just before Christmas. Twelve friends gather together to help one friend (unknown) with the most legendary apology ever. However, with a storm coming, will the friend be able to pull this off? Nobody sees the whiteout coming, but we don’t know when life chooses to sprinkle magical moments that could change anything and everything.
